Apply to a Health Program
Applying To a Health Technology ProgramEach year more people apply for admission to the Selective Health Technology programs than we have the capabilities to serve. Enrollments may be limited due to the lack of available resources and facilities within the community and institution. We follow a selective admission policy based upon the criteria outlined in the "GUIDELINES FOR SELECTIVE ADMISSION PROGRAMS" section of the 2007-2008 Bluegrass Community and Technical College Catalog. The strength of the applicant pool varies year to year, with the best qualified applicants receiving first consideration. Although entry to the clinical courses of the health programs is based on a selective admission process, applicants can be considered "health pending" students by selecting a health pending major code for question 13 on the application. A health pending student can take all of the courses within the curriculum to satisfy graduation requirements, except the clinical courses. Please note, however, that enrollment as a health pending student does not guarantee admission to the clinical courses of the curriculum. A health pending program applicant must follow the deadlines published for general admission into the college. In order to be considered for admission to the clinical courses of the health program, we must receive admission documents and requirements by the February 15, 2008 deadline. An applicant will not be considered for admission into the clinical courses of the health program if the admission file is incomplete and/or the applicant fails to meet our special program requirements (for example, mandatory conferences or work/observation experience) by the deadline. To obtain more information about applying to a health program, please refer to the 2007-2008 Bluegrass Community and Technical College Catalog. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain and follow the information provided in the catalog. If we can provide additional details about enrollment as a health pending student or if we can assist you in the admission process to a health program, please contact the BCTC Office of Admissions via email or via phone at 859.246.6210.
