Selective Admission: Nursing (RN)
The process for applying has changed for the 2010 application year. We are now going to a “Complete Application Packet” format. Students must submit all documents below in one envelope to be considered for the program. Even if you have applied before and/or are currently enrolled, we will need all documents resubmitted to the Office of Admissions, room 200 Oswald Building, Cooper Campus by February 15, 2010 for the Fall 2010 class in order to be considered for admission. Only complete packets will be processed and considered for the program.
Initial Admit
Gather all of the documents required for consideration of the Nursing RN program below and place in the large envelope provided:
• Print the Information Letter and the Letter of Intent Checklist below and submit the checklist with your packet

• Students who are currently enrolled in classes at BCTC as a "Nursing Pending" student must submit a complete packet of all documents listed here. Students who are not currently enrolled in classes at BCTC must fill out an application for admission and a complete packet of all documents.
• An official high school transcript or official passing GED scores. Transcripts must show a date of graduation. This is also required of students with previous college work.
• Official scores of the American College Test (ACT), the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or the National League for Nursing (NLN) Pre-Admission Test. This is also required of students with previous college work. BCTC Registered Nursing Program - Frequently Asked Questions about the NLN Exam
• Official transcripts of all post-secondary education attempted. Transcripts must be submitted from EACH college or university previously attended and must show every period of enrollment. Transcripts from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System do not need to be submitted.
• In order to be considered for admission to the Nursing Program, each applicant must attend a mandatory pre-admission conference. You may attend the conference of your choice and you must remain for the entire session. Conferences will be held on the Cooper and Lawrenceburg campuses on:

Reminder: Incomplete packets will not be accepted. Please turn in your packet to the Office of Admissions, Cooper Campus, by February 15, 2010. Please allow 7-10 business days to process your application to the nursing program. If you are currently enrolled, you will be able to access MyBin here to check on the status of your application. Advanced Standing
** The next available term to apply for Advanced Standing is Spring 2010 for the Cooper and Danville campuses. The application and materials deadline is November 10, 2009. The deadline for Summer 2010 is April 23, 2010 and the deadline for Fall 2010 is June 16, 2010.
Students who are 1) licensed LPN, 2) recently completed an LPN program, 3) have taken RN clinical courses at Bluegrass or another academically accredited institution would apply as an advanced standing applicant. Each applicant must submit the following credentials to the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Office of Admissions two months prior to the start of the term you are applying for in order to be considered for advanced standing admission:

• Written letter to the RN Program Coordinator indicating your desire to pursue the RN program, the semester you are seeking admission, your Nursing academic coursework and clinical background, which campus you are seeking admission, as well as your name, mailing address, phone number and social security number. (This is the first step in this admissions process. After you meet with the coordinator to submit your letter and a copy of your transcript, this initiates the process of applying to the RN program as an advanced standing applicant. You meet with the Program Coordinator first as they determine which Nursing course and semester you would apply for, as the Nursing clinical courses are only offered in sequence during specific semesters.)
• Students who are not currently enrolled at Bluegrass must submit an application for admission.
• A letter of recommendation from previous Nursing faculty if you are an LPN graduate outside of a KCTCS school, or you are transferring from another RN clinical program. (If you are a readmit Bluegrass RN student, you would need to submit two letters of recommendation from Bluegrass RN Nursing faculty.)
• Copy of LPN licensure if you are currently practicing as an LPN.
