Progression Policy

Leestown:

A student who receives two grades of “W”,”E” or “D” while in a practical nursing program may not return to the practical nursing program. This policy applies to students who fail or withdraw from the same practical nursing course two times, to students who fail or withdraw from two different practical nursing courses while in the program, and to students who fail or withdraw from two practical nursing courses during the same semester. This policy applies to transfer students who have had one failure/withdrawal in another KCTCS practical nursing program. Transfer applicants with two prior practical nursing course failures or withdrawals may not be admitted to the program.

Danville:

AHS 100 and BIO 135 are pre/co-requisites to NPN 100, NPN 105, and NPN 110, therefore a C must be maintained in these classes to progress in the PN program.  If AHS 100 or BIO 135 are dropped while taking a nurisng (NPN) class then the student will automatically be dropped from the nursing (NPN) class as well.  If the student withdraws, is dismissed, or is not successful in the nursing program they may re-apply for entry inot the PN program ONE TIME ONLY.  Selective admissions can be used for students attempting readmission into the first semester of nursing classes to guarantee a spot in the clinical.  All others will be considered based on the admission committee's recommendations, availability or classroom and/or clinical facilities.  The level of re-entry will depend on previous program performance and the time lapsed since original enrollment.
