Additional Requirements-PN Program
Once you have been accepted into the Practical Nursing Program, there are several things you will need to provide during the first week of Semester I: Nurse Aide (Medicaid Nurse Aide, Nursing Assistant I)You must show documentation of successful completion of a Medicaid Nurse Aide or equivilent (nursing) course within the past three years or proof of active status on the Medicaid Nurse Aide Registry. Click here for information on the Nurse Aide Courses offered at BCTC. CPRYou must submit proof of current CPR for Health Care Providers. CPR status must remain active during enrollment in the Practical Nursing Program. ImmunizationsProof of immunization is required for: -Rubella, Rubeola, and Mumps: documentation of a MMR vaccine or a positive titer (2 for Danville program) for MMR. If titer is non-reactive or negative, a MMR vaccine must be taken. Documentation by a physician of your having had Rubella, Rubeola and Mumps diseases is also acceptable. -Tuberculosis: documentation of a negative TB skin test, which is good for one year from date given. Also acceptable (if history of a positive TB skin test), physician documentation and a chest x-ray showing no active disease. Annual TB screening is required while enrolled in the program. -Chicken Pox (Leestown program only): positive oral/written history of Chicken Pox, a positive antibody titer, or an immunization with varicella vaccine (series of two) are acceptable documentation. -Proof of Diptheria/tetanus toxoid in last ten years (Danville program only). -Proof of professional liability insurance (can be purchased through college at nominal fee).
