Nurse Aide Information

A GED and/or high school diploma is NOT NECESSARY for acceptance into this program!

After successful completion of the Nursing Assistant Skills I course you will be scheduled to take the State Competency Evaluation. You will then be placed on the Kentucky Nurse Aide registry, and you will be able to work in a variety of health care settings including hospitals, medical offices, home health care, Hospice, private duty settings, assisted-living homes, long term care and mental health facilities.

This course fulfills the requirement of the nursing prerequisite for Medicaid Nurse Aide for admission to all BCTC nursing programs.

How to Apply

1. Fill out a college application.  This can be done online  at  BCTC admissions or at the One Stop Center in Building C on the Leestown campus, or in the admissions office of any other campus.

 2. After you receive a letter stating that your application has been processed, return to the One Stop Center (at Leestown) or admissions office (on other campuses) where you will be registered for the class.

3. You will be directed to the business office to pay your fees.

Cost of the course*:

Course fee, malpractice insurance and state test fee - $452

Books and required nametag (approximately) - $75

Total cost (approx.) - $527

4.  Buy your textbook, workbook and nametag from the campus bookstore.

 PLEASE NOTE:  Should you choose not to attend the course once you have registered, it is your responsibility to officially withdraw fromt the course FIVE DAYS PRIOR to its start date.  Students who do not attend the course will be responsible for paying the associated tuition and fees if they have not officially withdrawn.
