Welcome!

On behalf of the faculty and staff of BCTC nursing programs we welcome your interest in the Associate Degree Nursing program.  We know that you have much to offer our program in terms of your experience and education and hope that you will choose our program as you progress toward your RN licensure.

LPNs who have practiced at least one full year within the past three years and hold a current, unrestricted license for practical nursing may be admitted to the ADN program following the completion of the pre-requisite general education courses.  In order to be admitted into the ADN program, LPN's must meet all selective admission criteria of the class to which they are applying.

KCTCS Graduates

If you are an LPN who has graduated from the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, you will have 15 hours of nursing courses that will count toward program requirements.  They are:

  • Nursing 115 (9 credit hours)

  • Nursing 125 (2 credit hours)

  • Nursing 235 (4 credit hours)

Graduates of Other Programs

If you are an LPN who graduated from any other program and hold a current, unrestricted license, you are eligible to receive credit for Nursing 115 (9 credit hours).  You can read more about this in  the BCTC Catalog under the heading of External Experiences.  We recognize your ability to bypass our entry level nursing course and would seek placement for you in the second semester of the program.

Number of Classes Needed

Graduates of a Practical Nursing program at the  Kentucky Community and Technical College will need to complete 22 hours of coursework:

  • NR 245 (4 credit hours)
  • NR 255 (9 credit hours)
