Chemistry
All of the chemistry courses offered at BCTC may be counted towards the science component of the General Education Requirements for any Associate degree. Some programs require a specific chemistry course or courses. For example, nuclear medicine technology requires both CHE 104 and 106. Check your individual program requirements or speak to an advisor. Students intending to pursue any four year baccalaureate degree at the University of Kentucky are required to follow the University Studies Program Requirements. The Natural Sciences component is fulfilled by completing 6 hours in courses listed under this requirement. This includes the following chemistry courses:
CHE 106 Introduction to Inorganic, Organic and Biochemistry CHE 105 College Chemistry I CHE 107 General College Chemistry II CHE 115 General College Laboratory CHM 101 Chemistry: A Cultural Approach CHM 105 General Chemistry Laboratory I CHM 107 General Chemistry Laboratory II Note that CHM 105 and CHM 107 are taught only at the community college. When taken concurrently with CHE 105 and CHE 107 respectively, they will transfer as the equivalent of CHE 115. In all cases students should check their program requirements for which courses may be preferred or required. Many degrees require the CHE105-107 courses. For example, medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, etc.
