Unity Ambassadors


I. Purpose

The Bluegrass Community & Technical College Unity Ambassadors are a highly selected and diverse group of men and women dedicated to enhancing and maintaining the image and mission of Bluegrass College through the recruitment of prospective students and participation in cultural events sponsored by the college within the community.

II. Membership requirements and selection criteria

To be considered as a Bluegrass Community & Technical College Unity Ambassador, the individual must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. The individual must be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.
  2. The individual must have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  3. The individual must have good communication skills in English and/or Spanish, be comfortable in front of an audience, possess the ability to think on his/her feet, and the ability to interact with a diverse group of people.
  4. The individual must be willing to work with a diverse group of people and be knowledgeable and understanding of many cultures.
  5. The individual must be enthusiastic about his/her educational opportunities at BCTC, and represent a positive image of the school.
  6. The individual must demonstrate leadership and have a reputation of good citizenship within the community.
  7. The individual must have good knowledge about BCTC.

III. Responsibilities

Each Ambassador will work at least 2-3 hours a month on the following projects that fit their interest:

  1. BCTC Cultural Activities
  2. High School Recruitment and college fairs
  3. Campus tours
  4. High school, middle school and elementary school tutoring and lunch visits
  5. Elementary School Reading programs

IV. Incentive for being a Unity Ambassador

   1. Prestige
   2. Leadership training and team building retreat
   3. Uniform: polo-shirt and pullover
   4. Resume building
   5. Possible scholarship opportunity
