The Mandala Movement is a program started out of the BCTC Office of Multicultural Affairs. Dr. William Parker, Parker & Parker Associates, provided the initial training for the first group in 1998. Since then the Movement has grown to over (40) administrators, faculty and staff at BCTC and now includes members from the Lexington community. In order to be a Multicultural Change Ambassador individuals must complete a three-phase retreat over the course of one year on diversity, cultural, and ethnicity topics.
The Mandala Movement Multicultural Change Ambassadors Mission
The Movement's mission is to create a cadre of people (faculty, staff, and community) who are culturally competent to create change within the BCTC environment. These individuals are trained and skilled in serving as unique role models by exhibiting positive behaviors and attitudes that effect healthy, stabilized, and on-going change. Furthermore, it is the mission of the Multicultural Change Ambassadors to promote a diversity-sensitive and diversity-aware environment at BCTC, and to spread this sensitivity and awareness throughout the college and community.
