Live Large BCTC at Greg Page Undergraduate Apartments

UK Campus housing and BCTC administrators have worked together to create an environment that is academically and socially supportive to the BCTC student at Greg Page.

Undergraduate apartment living at Greg Page will offer:

  • Programming focused on the educational needs of the BCTC student
  • Support available for students who may be living away from home for the first time
  • More privacy than residence hall living
  • Social programs arranged to complement the BCTC academic schedule offered throughout the year.

Research indicates that living on campus is the smart choice. Students who live on campus tend to do better academically and graduate sooner. When BCTC students live on campus, they are within walking distance of their academic core.

Living on campus is economical as well. Students do not pay additional monies for high speed internet, joining a fitness center or pay utility deposits. Greg Page apartments are furnished too!

Starting Feb 1, students will have the option to apply for a 12 month lease at Greg Page. These students can move in as early as May 12, 2006. Students who prefer to move in right before school starts in August can sign a lease starting then as well. Students wanting to move in right before the academic semester begins may move-in on August 18, 2006. Rental agreements are online in the Apply section of this BCTC page.

Students may choose a two person, two bedroom apartment at Greg Page, or they may prefer to live with four people in a two bedroom apartment, both apartment options are available. It's your choice. However, students should apply as soon as possible to ensure their first priority.

Apply:

BCTC students may complete their application online and submit at $300 first installment payment and rental agreement to: Auxiliary Services Business Office, 218D Peterson Services Building, Lexington, KY 40506-0005.

Questions and Answers:

As a BCTC student, why would you want to live at Greg Page?
Greg Page is close to your academic core so you can walk to and from campus or study sessions. And, you can still have a car at Greg Page. BCTC students will have an environment that supports their academic mission at Greg Page.

Will I need a Dining Plan?
No, Greg Page has a full kitchen in each apartment. But if you choose to have a meal plan, UK Dining Services has lots of options for students including a commuter plan. Visit their Web site at www.uky.edu/DiningServices to learn more.

Will I have my own room?
Maybe! Greg Page is set-up so four students can share a two bedroom apartment or two students may share a two bedroom apartment. So it's up to you, if you want more privacy, it's yours to acquire, but if you'd prefer to save money, that option is available to you as well.

How much does it cost?
Students who choose the two person, two bedroom concept will pay the same rate as students living in a new residence hall on UK's campus. That rate is currently $2,125.00 with a $50 deposit per semester. However, we anticipate a rent increase for next year. The increase will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval in March 2006. Rate information will be posted on our web site or made available to you as possible. Obviously, the four person, two bedroom concept would cost less. Again, these rates will be made available as soon as possible.

May I smoke in my apartment?
No, smoking is not allowed at Greg Page apartments.

What if I have a question even after I go online about how to apply?

Off-campus housing – Most will need to live off-campus in private owned housing. You should allow a few days to find an apartment after you arrive. Many students do find off-campus apartments within 20 – 30 minutes walking distance. It may take considerable time, effort , and patience on your part to find a suitable place. By living off campus, you may prepare your own food and live with others perhaps from your own culture. However, it may be a little difficult to buy and carry groceries, cook, and pay utility bills while at the same time learning to study in a very new environment.

Most housing is rented on a contract or lease basis. The lease is a legal document giving the terms of the rental agreement. A security deposit, normally equal to the first month’s rent is required when you sign. It will be returned by the landlord, minus any damage or cleaning charges, at the end of the contract. Usually it will not be returned if you break the contract (i.e. moving before the end of the contract).
