Health Insurance

Health InsuranceFees include basic health services at the Student Health Center. However, full health insurance is required for all international students. This insurance is to pay for more serious illnesses such as referrals to specialty clinics, surgery, hospitalization, after hours care. Bluegrass Community and Technical College requires all international students and scholars to have health insurance with benefits of at least $200,000 per illness or injury for the duration of their program.

The yearly cost for the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Student Health Insurance Plan for 2004-2005 was $645. This amount will be billed to your student account along with tuition and other fees on a semester basis with coverage dates as follows:

Fall Semester – August 26th  through December 31st, 2004

Spring Semester – January 1st through August 26st, 2005

If you already have insurance that is payable in the United States, bring a copy of the policy and proof of payment in English. If the policy meets the minimum requirements, you will be able to use that insurance and not required to purchase the international student insurance.

Students who bring a spouse or other dependents will be required to purchase health insurance for them. The annual rate for a spouse is $1,787, for one child $1530; for 2 or more children $2,646.

*Fees are subject to change each year.
