Manufacturing Industrial Technology
Manufacturing-Industrial Technology Are you fascinated by electricity and electronics? Are you interested in learning how automation works? Do you enjoy tinkering with a machine to change what it does? Do you enjoy working with your hands on mechanical systems? Do you enjoy using electricity to improve your quality of life? If you answer yes to these questions, one, or several of the MIT programs can prepare you for a rewarding career in electricity, electronics, or manufacturing. The programs cover the major areas of Industrial Technology so chances are we have a program that will focus on your area of interest. To request a DVD outlining the MIT programs, please contact kevin.dunn@kctcs.edu. What is Manufacturing-Industrial Technology? Manufacturing-Industrial Technology is a program area in which a student can earn an associate degree in one of 3 areas with up to 4 focus areas or “specializations”. Each area concentrates on one particular career field in manufacturing and industrial automation and control. Because hands-on experience is so important to learning and developing skills, all of the technical courses in the programs include a lab component in which you will apply what you are learning in class. All of these programs have a common core of classes that help you learn to communicate professionally (English, Oral Communications), understand the fundamentals of science, learn the mathematics you will need in technical classes, and to help you to understand how your role as a respected technician fits into the greater society of our community, nation and world (Humanities, Social Science). In addition to the general education courses, because electricity is used in all aspects of industry, all students study the fundamentals of electricity including Direct Current Circuits and Alternating Current Circuits. Finally, we realize that many times workers in industry are in need of specific training and are not in a position to take all of the classes needed for an AAS degree. For that reason, any of our classes can be taken by any person who has the required background. In addition, we offer many certificates that you can earn as you progress through the programs. Below is a list of the majors and the areas each degree covers. Each area is described in greater detail below. Computer Maintenance Technology
