Peace Art Garden Grows Roots at BCTC

Workers working on GardenLEXINGTON, KY (June 5, 2008) – Students, faculty and staff at BCTC will begin planting the seeds of peace in June with the creation of a new Peace Art Garden.  The garden, which will symbolize peace on Earth, was designed by John Michler owner of Michler’s Gardens and Greenhouses and Michler Florist will be located at BCTC’s Leestown Campus.

The new garden will boast a wide variety of perennial plants including Black-eyed Susan, Sedum “Autumn Joy” Phox paniculata, Butterfly Bush, Anemone japonica, Boltonia and Joe-Pye Weed.   Other permanent fixtures of the garden will be bird feeders, sculptures, benches and engraved markers for the plants.

Under the direction of Michler, the garden will be created on June 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the west side of Leestown Campus C Building, 164 Opportunity Way in Lexington.  A dedication ceremony for the garden is scheduled for September 21, the International Day of Peace.
