Leadership Academy at BCTC graduates inaugural class

LEXINGTON, KY (May 1, 2008) – Eleven faculty and staff members from Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) recently graduated from the college’s inaugural Leadership Academy. Class members Angel Clay, Mary Davis, Nancy Dixon, Jeanette Dodson, Jane Goatley, Jenny Jones, Kristi Key, Patricia Nation, Connie Rine, Sipera Simons and Kim York were selected to participate in the class designed to identify and develop employee leadership skills essential to the future operation and success of the college.

The nine-month class began last August. Classes met once a month and addressed issues that included applied leadership, community awareness and service learning. Other sessions covered personality assessment, leadership ethics, communications, culture and diversity within leadership, climate and conflict, meeting management, and public speaking. Additionally, the class had the opportunity to tour Toyota, BCTC’s extended campuses and participated in panel discussions with community leaders.

Applications are now being accepted for next year’s class and can be found online at Leadership Academy Application. The deadline to apply for the 2008-2009 Leadership Academy is May 30.
