BCTC Students to Compete at Regional College Theater Festival

LEXINGTON, KY (February 5, 2008) –In just it’s second year, the theater program at Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC) has three students and their associate professor nominated for awards and to attend the Region IV Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCATF) .The festival will be held at the Brooks Center for Performing Arts, on the campus of Clemson University, Clemson, South Carolina, February 5-9, 2008.

Front Row: BCTC Students Zack Hightower, Jeremy Brown, Courtney-Beth Carr, Back Row: Tim Davis, associate professor, Zach Dearing, Zach Mosley, and Ashley Pennington.The student nominees are, Jeremy Brown and Zach Dearing, for The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship, Ashley Pennington, for KCACTF National Stage Management Award, Associate Professor, Tim Davis for KCACTF National Teaching Artist. Also in attendance at the festival, BCTC students Zach Moseley, Zack Hightower, and Courtney-Beth Carr who will attending as  performing artist in open auditions with the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nominees. 
 
“To be nominated is an honor and an opportunity.” said Teresa Tope, associate dean of academics and faculty advisor, “Having our students and faculty recognized at this level speaks highly of our program.”

Winners at the regional festival will have the opportunity to compete at the national festival being held at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., in April.

The next BCTC Theater production “The Boys Next Door”   will be in partnership with the Actors Guild Theater, April10-12, 2008, at the Black Box Theater, Downtown Arts Center, 141 East Main Street, Lexington.
