BCTC’s Second Annual Chili & Desert Cook-Off Benefits United Way
LEXINGTON, KY (November 9, 2007) – Entries in the Bluegrass Community & Technical College’s (BCTC) Second Annual Chili & Desert Cook-Off to benefit the United Way ranged from fiery hot to super sweet. Students, faculty, and staff donated $5 to taste entries, vote on the People’s Choice awards, and enjoy pizza. A panel of judges that included Dr. Larry Durrence, Interim BCTC President, Dr. David Hellmich, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Bonnie Nicholson Dean of Academic Affairs tasted and awarded the Judge’s Choice awards. The event attracted over 13 entries from across BCTC and collected over $400 for the United Way. The winning teams were awarded a gold trophy and bragging rights for the year. The Winners included: The South Wing and the Student Billing Group from Leestown Campus won their respective categories for the second year in a row. The event was sponsored by the U.S Army and Papa Murphy’s Pizza and organized by the BCTC Professional and Organizational Developmental Teambuilding and Organizational Development Subcommittee. In addition to employee pledges, Lauri Bodenbender, BCTC United Way Campaign Chair, organized a silent auction, dress down days, bake sales and a car wash. |
