Press Release - October 5, 2007
KCTCS Announces Selection of Bluegrass Community and Technical College President Versailles, Ky. (Oct. 5, 2007) – KCTCS President Michael B. McCall today named Maysville Community and Technical College (MCTC) President Augusta A. Julian, Ed.D., to serve as the new president of Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC). Dr. Julian was one of three finalists who recently interviewed for the position following a national search. She will oversee more than 10,500 students enrolled at BCTC’s six campuses – the Cooper, Leestown and Regency campuses in Lexington and the Danville, Lawrenceburg and Winchester-Clark County campuses. BCTC also offers classes at sites in Georgetown, Lancaster and Nicholasville. “The Local Search Advisory Group and the College Board of Directors worked diligently in reviewing candidates and conducting interviews,” said BCTC Board of Directors Chair Randy Powell. “In the opinion of both groups, the best candidate for Bluegrass Community and Technical College is Dr. Julian.” Dr. Julian received her Doctorate degree in Adult and Community College Education Administration from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.; her Master’s degree in Educational Media and Instructional Design from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. “I am excited to be joining BCTC with its history of service to its students and communities,” said Dr. Julian. “A thriving region like the Bluegrass still needs the underpinning of high quality transfer and career education to support and sustain its growth. I know already that we have the talent and commitment within the college to make great things happen. Together with the faculty, staff, and board members at BCTC, and in partnership with our community, business, and higher education partners, we will build on this solid foundation and reach for a new standard of excellence.” BCTC is governed by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS), which operates 16 colleges on 65 campuses throughout the state. KCTCS is Kentucky’s largest provider of postsecondary education and workforce training. |
