BCTC Presents Benefactor Award

LEXINGTON, KY (March 27, 2007) – Carla Van Meter, Chair of The Clark County Community Foundation recently accepted on behalf of the Foundation, a Benefactor Award from Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC).  The Benefactor Award is presented to those individuals and organizations who have demonstrated outstanding voluntary support of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and/or one of its colleges.

The Clark County Community Foundation is a key player in making higher education possible in Winchester-Clark County. In 2004, Bluegrass Community and Technical College was awarded a grant from the Foundation to establish the Ralph L. Oliver Scholarship to recognize an outstanding community member from Winchester-Clark County.  Through the Foundation’s continued funding of the scholarship, 13 students from Winchester-Clark County have been able to attend the College each year.

“We are so appreciative of the Clark County Community Foundation’s generosity.  They have been a great partner to our college and in our pursuit of access and opportunity for all students,” said Dr. Jim Kerley, BCTC President “The Benefactor Award by the statewide system, KCTCS, recognizes them as leaders in support of higher education in Kentucky.”

Thirty-four benefactors were recognized across the state at the eighth annual Kentucky Community & Technical College System’s President’s Gala and Benefactors’ Awards Dinner held earlier this year.
