“Standing Strong” A Women’s History Month Celebration What: “Standing Strong” A Women’s History Month Celebration LEXINGTON, KY (March 15, 2007) – Bluegrass Community & Technical College will host “Standing Strong” A Women’s History Month Celebration on Wednesday March 21, 2007. The Celebration will take place from 11:30a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Academic Technical Building Lobby on the Cooper Campus, 470 Cooper Drive, Lexington. The public is invited to attend the following presentations: 12:00 - 1:00p.m., “Women in Politics” will be presented by Representative Ruth Ann Palumbo. Representative Palumbo has served in the Kentucky Legislator since 1991. She has earned recognition as a community volunteer, and has exercised leadership in numerous organizations. 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., "Breaking the Silence: Domestic Violence and What You Can Do About It." will be presented by Teri Faragher. Teri has worked in family violence for over 25 years. She is the Executive Director of the Domestic Violence Prevention Board, Fayette County’s coordinating council on family violence. 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., "The Goddess Culture" will be presented by Jaqui Linder, an artist and former English and Women's Studies teacher at Lexington Community College. Ms. Linder will discuss a culture that thrived 5500-9000 years ago along the Mediterranean, Adriatic, Aegean and Black Seas, a culture in which power was equated with responsibility and love.
