BCTC Schedules Events in Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month
LEXINGTON, KY (September 7, 2006) – The traditions and customs of the Hispanic culture will be the focus of several events planned to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Bluegrass Community & Technical College. The events are free and open to the public.
Hispanic Heritage Month Events:
- September 7: Capoeira Workshop - Afro Brazilian Dance, 2:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, AT Bldg. Lobby.
- September 7: “Working From the Center”-Marta Miranda, 6:00p.m. Cooper Campus, AT Lobby.
- September 14: “Real Women Have Curves” film presentation, 5:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, Oswald Bldg. Room 230.
- September 15: “Fiesta Latina” BCTC craft booth, 6:00 p.m. Downtown, Courthouse Plaza.
- September 21: “Doble Juego”- film presentation, 5:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, Oswald Bldg. room 230.
- September 22: “Expanding Your Horizons” - Multicultural Leadership Training, 2:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, AT Lobby.
- September 27: Enrique Gonzalez’s Mural Paintings, 10:00-5:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, Oswald Bldg. Main Lobby 10:00-5:00 p.m.
- September 28: “Mi Familia” - film presentation, 5:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, Oswald Bldg. Room 230.
- September 29: Bluegrass Cup Soccer Tournament, 10:00 a.m. Cooper Campus lawn.
- October 2: Capoeira Workshop - Afro Brazilian Dance, 2:00 p.m. Leestown Campus, Bldg. C Student Center.
- October 5: “El Norte” - film presentation, 5:00 p.m. Cooper Campus, Oswald Bldg. Room 230.
BCTC is also a co-sponsor of “Fiesta Latina”. The city-wide event will feature food, music and dance on September 15th. Representatives from the college will be making paper flowers at the BCTC booth which was a crowd pleaser during last year’s event.
