Armed Robbery/Kidnapping

March 24, 2008

At approximately 3:00 pm today University of Kentucky Police were notified of a robbery at Greg Page Apartments that took place sometime between 2 and 3pm.  Two men entered the apartment of a Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) student.  They were armed with a knife and miniature baseball bat.  They took cash and a Dell laptop, carrying them away in a light blue pillowcase.  They also forced the resident to drive them to a local bank to obtain more cash. 

Suspect descriptions are as follows:

Suspect #1:  Black male, 6’4” tall, medium complexion, light build.  He was last seen wearing a navy blue face mask, black zip-up hoodie and light grey fleece pants.  He was armed with a knife and last seen in the area of Parking Structure #2 and K-Lair Grill on Hilltop Avenue.

Suspect #2:  Black male, 6’ tall, medium complexion, medium build, mustache.  He was last seen wearing a black Carhart type jacket with a hood and black or dark-colored pants.  He was armed with a miniature baseball bat and implied that he had a gun.  He was last seen in the area of University Drive and Huguelet Avenue.

UK Police offer the following safety precautions:

  • If you notice anything suspicious, go to the nearest phone and call 911.
  • Make sure all doors and windows are locked.
  • Always verify visitor’s identity before opening your door.
  • Carry a cell phone or other personal safety device.
  • Always be aware of your surroundings and of the activities of people around you.
  • Do not travel alone after dark; always walk with a friend or with a group.

  • Request taxi service through UK Genesis “Taxicats” at 381-1010.
  • Park only in well lit areas.
  • Turn over any requested items (purse, wallet, etc).
  • Make statements with authority -- BACK-OFF! STOP! NO-WAY!  Never comply with being moved to another location, FIGHT BACK!
