Using Indexes to Locate Periodical Articles

Periodicals are magazines, journals and newspapers. Some are available full-text online. Others are in paper form in the library. Your teacher may ask that you find an article in a scholarly or peer-reviewed journal rather than a magazine to get more indepth research for your topic.

This site explains the difference between a magazine and scholarly journal: http://lib.utsa.edu/Research/Subject/scholarlyguide.html

Search for articles on any topic in the Academic Search Premier database at the LRC web page: Academic Search Premier

Search for articles in other Ebsco KYVL databases available at the LRC web page: Other EBSCOhost Databases (Just put a check mark by the databases that interest you and press enter. Then, type in your search terms.)

Search for articles in the Kentucky Virtual Library collection: www.kyvl.org/.

If the full text of an article is not available online check the library catalog to see if BCTC subscribes to it. You may also wish to use Interlibrary Loan Services to borrow articles from another library.
