How to use the KCTCS Library Catalog
Home < Learning Resource Center

Our library records have moved out of UK's InfoKat Library Catalog and into the KCTCS Library Catalog. We are now using the  name Bluegrass CTC - All in the KCTCS Library Catalog.

To search in the KCTCS Library Catalog for  our items only, you can select "Bluegrass CTC - All" from the drop down menu.

If you've checked out materials from our library and would like to renew them, please call or come to our circulation desk (246-6380 on Cooper Campus; 246-6713 on Leestown Campus) or use the self-renew option in the KCTCS Library Catalog. To return items, please bring them to the BCTC circulation desk at Cooper or Leestown Campus.

Searching in the KCTCS Library Catalog

Searching the new catalog is very similar to searching UK's InfoKat. To search for books or other library material using the KCTCS Library Catalog, click on (or select) a search option tab from the search screen. For example, you might start with a "Basic Search."

Basic Search

The Basic Search allows you to perform a simple search. You can specify the search words, the type of search (Keyword, Author, Title, Subject, etc.), and a "Limit search to a single library" function. If you are limiting your search to our holdings, be sure to select  Bluegrass CTC - All from the drop-down menu. Other limits may also be selected from the "Set Other Limits" button before performing your search.

To perform a search:

  1. Enter the words you want to search for in the Search for field.
  2. Select the type of search that you want to perform by choosing a search type from the Search by list.(
  3. (Optional) Choose what type of limit you want applied to the search by either 1) selecting a library from the Limit search to a single library menu or by 2) clicking the Set Other Limits button and choosing from the entire list of limits.
  4. (Optional) Specify how many entries of the search results you want to have display on each page by clicking the drop-down arrow and selecting the number of records in the "Records per Page" field.
  5. Click the Search button to begin your search.
  6. Once you have your list of search results, click on the title of any item that interests you. You will see the location information about the item, including the call number, if the item is a book. The location infomation can be used to find the item in our collection. If you click the "Description" tab, you will see a summary of any additional descriptive information available about the item, such as subject terms, notes, and physical desciption such as number of pages, etc.
  7. If you ever need help finding an item in our catalog or need help locating an item on the shelves, please ask at the Reference Desk or the Circulation Desk, and we will be happy to help you.
