Learning Resources Center policies

LRC Collection Development Policy: "to support the education activities of faculty, students, and staff by making available in various formats materials relevant to the curriculum and purpose of the College"
Budget and calendar: Initial allottment at beginning of fiscal year; sometimes non-recurring funds may be allotted in January. Ordering occurs year round.

Electronic resources for citations and reviews

"Books in Print" information:

Books in Print with Reviews (through KYVL; off-campus access with ID/PW), Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Amazon UK; Brandon/Hill list (Small Medical Library / Nursing/ Allied Health)

Electronic journals:

reviews from Booklist (ALA), N.Y. Times, L.A. Times, Boston Globe, The Internet Writing Journal, Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, available through BookWire, BookPage, etc.; InfoTrac and other LRC databases available from LRC Web page index book reviews, some full-text; Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader reviews available from LRC workstations. Other e-journals may only be open to subscribers or association members, such as the AEAweb, the American Economic Association's Web publications site.

Web review sources can be located with a search on Metacrawler and other search engines. Reviews posted by individuals also are available from the archives of newsgroups (rec.arts.books) and listservs that can be searched by such engines.
