BCTC Mission Statement

With students at the heart of our mission, the Bluegrass Community and Technical College provides open access to excellence in teaching and learning. Through comprehensive and responsive programs and services, we sustain a strong partnership with the community to improve economic vitality and quality of life in the region.

In pursuit of our mission, the Bluegrass Community & Technical college provides the following:

  • Certificate, diploma, associate degree,and transfer programs
  • Remedial/developmental education programs
  • Adult education programs
  • Workforce and business & industry customized training programs
  • Continuing education and community outreach
  • State-of-the-art technology
  • Student and customer-centered support

Bluegrass Community and Technical College was formed in 2005 following the consolidation of Central Kentucky Technical College and Lexington Community College. Bluegrass Community and Technical College is a member of the Kentucky Community and Technical College system and is a public two-year degree granting institution serving the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky.

1. The mission statement provides a brief history of BCTC including the transfer of the institution to KCTCS governance.




2. The mission statement includes pertinent descriptive information (e.g. public, comprehensive nature, and community and technical college).



3. The mission statement expresses essential beliefs, values, and intent of BCTC.



4. The mission statement describes the types of students BCTC hopes to attract.



5. The mission statement describes the types of occupations or endeavors which graduates will be prepared to undertake.



6. The mission statement delineates the geographic region for which BCTC intends to provide service.



7. The mission statement outlines BCTC's major functions (e.g., general education, developmental education, professional education, student development, and continuing education.



8. The mission statement provides a general description of the skills, knowledge, experience, and attitudes ideally acquired or developed by BCTC's students. (Goals)
