Winchester-Clark County Campus Hosts Sixth Annual ‘Run for the Glitz’ Fundraiser

Run for the Glitz is back for the sixth year. The event is Bluegrass Community and Technical College Winchester-Clark County campus’ annual fundraising event. More than 400 people attended last year’s event, raising more than $50,000.

Money raised during the event has funded student scholarships, but this year, the funds will be used to help build an amphitheater at the Winchester-Clark County campus. The open-air venue will not only be used by the college, but also by the community.

“The Glitz has provided the campus with many opportunities to enhance the education of the students that attend our local campus,” said JoEllen Reed, Director of Advocacy and Community Relations for BCTC.

The evening will feature a derby-themed buffet meal from Thompson Catering, silent and live auctions with auctioneer Woodrow Wilson and music by the Tim Talbert Project. There will also be an opportunity to meet famous jockeys and participate in a high-stakes stick-horse race and. Hall of Fame jockey, Chris McCarron, and students from the North American Racing Academy will attend the event in jockey silks to take pictures. There will also be a cash bar, dancing and complimentary valet parking.

The live and silent auctions will feature over 130 items including a Tempur-Pedic mattress, a week long stay on St. Simon’s Island in Georgia, gift baskets from local vendors and much more.

The event is organized by community volunteers and sponsored by many local businesses including Clark Regional Medical Center, Central Bank, Double Star, Ace Distributing, Rankin Paynter, Buying Center, Precisions Mechanical, Seki Sui, Scobee Funeral Home, Traditional Bank, Community Trust Bank, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Walle Corporation, People’s Exchange Bank, Hazen and Sawyer, Ale-8-One Bottling Company, Clark Energy, Stuff Recycling, East Kentucky Power Cooperative, and others.

“Winchester-Clark County has always stepped to the plate to support any and all efforts to make this campus a more viable place to further your education,” said Reed.
