The long-term vision for the North American Racing Academy (NARA) is to develop curriculum and programs that will provide students with the knowledge necessary to become employed in the racing industry in a variety of different occupations. This would include apprentice jockeys, jockeys, exercise riders, grooms, assistant trainers, foremen, trainers, breeding farm staff, racing officials, racing commissioners, track management, track maintenance and chaplains.
NARA will become a source of qualified labor for the industry.
NARA plans to include facilities such as a training track, indoor arena, fitness/exercise rooms, classrooms, dining areas, dormitory, administrative offices and meeting rooms.
Additionally, NARA will provide continuing education as well as expert consultation to assist established jockeys.
"Owners, trainers and the betting public will benefit from NARA because jockeys will be better prepared for the tough competition that' s out there. Racing will become more exciting with riders who are more knowledgeable and more talented." - Eddie Delahoussaye, Hall of Fame jockey (Kentucky Derby Winner, 1982 and 1983)
