Current Grants

Grant funding continues to support a variety of special programs and initiatives at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

MachinesNew grants in 2010-2011:

  • National Science Foundation - $445,000 to develop a biotechnology program under the direction of Deborah Davis, Tammy Liles, and Larry Porter.
  • National Science Foundation - $195,000 for the Team Science project to broaden the use of team-based learning in science classes; under the direction of Tracy Knowles and Chad Mueller.
  • Adult Basic Education - $175,000 to provide GED and literacy classes in Boyle County.
  • Kentucky KnowHow2Go - $4,000 from the KY College Access Network for Hispanic/multicultural outreach initiatives.
  • Partners for Youth - $2,800 to support Latino Leadership and College Experience Camp.

imageMajor grants continued in 2008-2009:

  • National Science Foundation - $500,000 grant for the Science Excel program to provide scholarships and student support for science majors.
  • Title III Transfer Center – A five-year grant totaling $1,467,000 from the U.S. Department of Education is funding a transfer center at BCTC works to increase transfer rates of BCTC students to four-year institutions and increase articulation agreements as well as establish a tracking system.
  • Adult Basic Education – Over $1.2 million in grant funds from Kentucky Adult Education helped to provide classes in GED, Learn to Read, and English as a Second Language to over 5,500 people in Fayette County.
  • Talent Search and Upward Bound – Funded by the U.S. Department of Education, these programs provide support services to disadvantaged middle and high school students to encourage their enrollment in college.
  • Perkins State grant - $644,000 to support technical education through equipment and training resources.
