Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in each HIT course to continue in the program.
Students are required to purchase liability insurance coverage through the college at a cost of approximately $26 per year prior to beginning the first clinical experience.
Students must provide proof of a TB skin test (or chest x-ray) and other required immunizations as outlined in the Student Clinical handbook. Proof of immunization submission is to the Clinical Coordinator at least four (4) months prior to clinical placement. Any expenses related to this test are the student’s responsibility. Students are required to submit to a physical examination, at their own cost, and provide proof of physician clearance (or nurse practitioner) before clinical practicum placement.
Criminal background checks are required of all new students and individuals who are returning to the program. Individuals must be able to pass this background check prior to enrolling in clinical courses. Current cost of this background check is approximately $43.00; cost is subject to change. Students are required to submit to a drug test prior to before clinical placement. All costs related to drug testing are the student’s responsibility.
Students may not use criminal background or drug test results from an employer in lieu of the required tests. All students must complete the criminal background and drug test as outlined by the Allied Health Program at Bluegrass.
The cost of required textbooks and supplies is approximately $600.00 per year; this may vary.
Students will incur all costs related to practicum(s), including transportation, parking, uniforms (if required), and meals.
For practicums outside the Lexington area, students will pay for housing or other related costs. If necessary, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange to take time off work to do practicum(s).
