Post Admission Requirements

Students must earn a minimum grade of “C” in each HIT course to continue in the program.

Students are required to purchase liability insurance coverage through the college at a cost of approximately $26 per year prior to beginning the first clinical experience.

Students must provide proof of a TB skin test (or chest x-ray) and other required immunizations as outlined in the Student Clinical handbook. Proof of immunization submission is to the Clinical Coordinator at least four (4) months prior to clinical placement. Any expenses related to this test are the student’s responsibility. Students are required to submit to a physical examination, at their own cost, and provide proof of physician clearance (or nurse practitioner) before clinical practicum placement.

Criminal background checks are required of all new students and individuals who are returning to the program. Individuals must be able to pass this background check prior to enrolling in clinical courses. Current cost of this background check is approximately $43.00; cost is subject to change. Financial aid may pay this cost. Please follow the directions below for submitting your application to Verified Credentials:

• Click the “ORDER NOW” button
• Select your program from the drop down menu.
• Complete and sign disclosure.
• Complete information/application page.
• Print or write down your Tracking information (this allows you to edit and track the progress of your report). An email with your tracking information will also be delivered to the email address provided on your application. You may also visit the website above, select TRACK MY ORDER and enter Tracking Number and Order Information to access the status or the results of your background check.
• Review information, make payment selection and submit order.
• Step 3 allows payment by credit card or pre-paid credit card, electronic check or Money Order. Make Selection and place order.
• Upon completion, the results of the background screening will be via email and to Bluegrass Community and Technical College. If any information found to be negatively affecting your eligibility for clinical placement in the Radiography Program, you will have an opportunity to challenge the information through the Adverse Action process associated with Verified Credentials. Students are required to submit to a drug test prior to before clinical placement.  All costs related to drug testing are the student’s responsibility.

Students may not use criminal background or drug test results from an employer in lieu of the required tests. All students must complete the criminal background and drug test as outlined by the Allied Health Program at Bluegrass.

The cost of required textbooks and supplies is approximately $600.00 per year; this may vary.

Students will incur all costs related to practicum(s), including transportation, parking, uniforms (if required), and meals.

For practicums outside the Lexington area, students will pay for housing or other related costs. If necessary, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange to take time off work to do practicum(s).
