Who is a BCTC Presidential Student Ambassador?

A Presidential Student Ambassador is a trained and successful student who wants to help prospective and new students learn the ropes to make the most out of their college experience at BCTC. Student Ambassadors will serve in various positions on the Cooper Campus and will gain valuable leadership experience which looks great on a resume!

What are the Minimum Requirements?

The Presidential Student Ambassador Packet will be available to all students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher at BCTC. BCTC applicants must have completed at least 12 credit hours, be a full-time student, and be in good standing in the community and institution.

What are the Job Responsibilities?

BCTC Student Ambassadors will assist with various aspects of new orientation, campus tours, registration, staff the Welcome Center, and develop strong leadership skills through extensive training. The following responsibilities apply to all Student Ambassadors:

  • Attend and actively participate in all training sessions
  • Serve as orientation leader during spring/summer and fall programs
  • Attend monthly Student Ambassador meetings
  • Participate in approximately six (6) hours of assigned activities per week
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Admissions with on-campus tours/events
  • Communicate with prospective students and families (via email, phone, in-person, etc.)
  • Assist with Registration as greeters and direction leaders
  • Do presentations on BCTC to community groups with the president or other staff or faculty reflecting on the student experience
  • Make community visits with the president or other staff to talk about BCTC
  • Participate in Access to Careers, Stop By, Get Started programs, High School Counselor Luncheon and other programs/events as assigned
  • Participate in a service project per semester
  • Attend and assist with college events as requested 

BCTC Presidential Student Ambassador Compensation

  • Receive a $250 stipend for the fall and spring semesters and/or $8.00 per hour during the summer
  • Receive a book voucher (worth $500 for the fall and spring semesters)

The Selection Process:

BCTC Presidential Student Ambassadors will be selected based on evaluation of their application, essay, interview and reference forms. The Presidential Student Ambassador program is a highly selective and important position at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
