The manufacturing industry is experiencing a shortage of qualified, multi-skill individuals.  The world economy depends on the manufacturing industry to develop new products and to keep supplying current products.  Decide today to be a part of the workforce that keeps the world moving!

The Bluegrass Community and Technical College Advanced Technology Center located in Georgetown offers many advantages for students looking for a challenging and exciting career.

The goal is two prong:

First

Assist students in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in a manufacturing career or to improve their on-the-job skills.

Second

Assist industry by understanding their training and education needs for their current and future workforce and transfer that information in course curriculum to the students.

On-line Courses and Flexible Lab Hours

On-line classes allow the student to work at his/her own pace.  The work is monitored by an instructor who is ready to assist and help  the student gain a clear understanding of the material.  Although the student works through the course at his/her schedule, a time frame for completing the course is given to help motivate the learning process and give the student a goal to complete of the course.

The student schedules his/her lab time in conjunction with the instructor.  This option allows the student the flexibility of planning around any work schedule.  Contact Program Coordinator, Allan Robertson at 502-570-6342 or email at allan.robertson@kctcs.edu for more information about online classes.

Open Entry Courses

Courses are currently being structured in a modular format which will give students the ability to enter and complete at times other than the traditional semester format.  This format allows for more flexible schedules for students and for industry.  Stay tuned for updates on this creative learning option.

Manufacturing Model Learning Environment

Classes and lab work are held in a manufacturing style learning environment.  From the beginning the student experiences working issues while learning.  The opportunity to learn skills in the real environment trains the student in how work is done.
