Career and Life Planning
Many students attend college without a particular major in mind. Counselors are available to help students in the career/major decision making process by helping to clarify their values, interests, abilities and skills and help them gather information about the world of work. Various forms of career assessment tools are available. We also offer our course, SDC 105: Career Planning Seminar.
Students are also encouraged to research careers on the Internet. Listed below are sites designed to help students gather useful information about hundreds of careers and learn more about your personality preferences. In addition, Internet search engines can be used to research career fields.
Occupational Outlook Handbook
The Occupational Outlook Handbook provides information on hundreds of careers. It will include a description of the career, education/training required, salary information and job outlook.
