The Dental Laboratory Technology Program at the Bluegrass Community & Technical College began operation in 1965. It is one of the premier teaching institutions in the country.

Students receive training and education under the tutelage of three full-time and three part-time instructors. The curriculum includes all facets of dental laboratory technology including ceramics, crown & bridge, orthodontics, complete dentures and removable partial dentures.

Over 400 students have graduated with an Associate in Applied Science Degree. Numerous employment opportunities await graduates. Most graduates own dental laboratories or work in commercial labs and private dental offices. Some work in dental sales, manufacturing and teaching. And still others have gone on to become dentists or work in one of the related dental professions (dental assisting or dental hygiene).

The Program has two options for students - the traditional 2-year Associate in Applied Science degree or a 1-year Certificate Program for students seeking only the basics in dental technology.

The Bluegrass Community & Technical College has an excellent job placement record with dental laboratories throughout the state.
