Are you a BCTC student and a parent? At BCTC’s Leestown Campus, you have options for child care while you are attending class.Community Action Council’s BCTC Child Development Center is located at the Leestown Campus and serves students from all of BCTC’s Lexington campuses. The BCTC Child Development Center is rated 3-Stars by the Kentucky Department of Education’s Stars for Kids Now program and is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). These distinctions are indicators of a high quality child development program.
Community Action Council’s BCTC Child Development Center offers a Head Start program that includes free child development services during Head Start hours to eligible children aged 3 to 5 years. Head Start is designed to enhance children's educational experiences, social-emotional development, physical development, and language and communication skills. Families must meet eligibility guidelines and most low-income and TANF families are eligible. The BCTC Child Development Center’s Child Care program provides a child-centered active learning environment and developmentally appropriate practices for children aged 3 to 5 years from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Most low-income and TANF families are eligible for reduced rate services. The BCTC Child Development Center’s Drop-in Care service may be used by students and others who need brief care for children aged 3 to 5 years. All children must be enrolled in this program and each drop off must have prior approval. Call Community Action Council’s Fayette West Center at (859) 246-1192 and make an appointment to discuss your child’s eligibility for Head Start, Child Care, and/or Drop-In Care services.
