The public will have the opportunity to meet several of central Kentucky’s fire, police and EMS heroes this Sunday at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark for the Lexington Legends Emergency Services Appreciation Night.

“One of the best aspects of our job is meeting with the citizens we serve from communities across the state,” said Kentucky Fire Commission Executive Director Ronnie Day.

Activities begin at 2 p.m. with a pre-game softball game between the Guns (Lexington Police Dept.) and the Hoses (Lexington Fire Dept.). Following the pre-game there will be a home run derby at 4 p.m. The Legends game begins at 6:05 p.m. To purchase discounted tickets for these events, visit and enter the promo code heroes.

There will be free activities (rain or shine) outside the main gates. The Kentucky Fire Commission will have a firefighter history trailer on display, along with a bounce house for kids, fireblast, and a driving simulator for those who want to test their skills at driving a fire vehicle.
