Mission statement

The Office of Hispanic Outreach and Services in the Department of Multiculturalism and Inclusion strives to provide access to high quality educational opportunities for students, to promote student success during and after their enrollment in BCTC programs, and to create an atmosphere of acceptance and cultural celebration by linking all communities and peoples.

Services

• Lead BCTC’s effort to serve the growing Hispanic community in Lexington and central Kentucky.
• Develop a rich cultural and family oriented environment in which students feel accepted and able to succeed.
• Assist students in all processes (admissions, advising, etc) during their enrollment at BCTC and facilitate transfer to a 4-year university or to the workforce upon completion of an associate’s degree, certification, or pre-baccalaureate study.
• Coordinate cultural and social events that unite all students and all individuals within BCTC and the community.
• Provide for students a mentoring program composed of community leaders and professionals as well as faculty, staff, and established students of BCTC.
• Advise Multicultural Ambassadors and Hispanic Student Organization
• Serve as bi-lingual resource for BCTC faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
• Coordinate efforts of Hispanic Task Force.
• Develop and organize fundraising events for Hispanic Scholarship fund.
• Provide an informative bilingual newsletter highlighting issues relevant to the Hispanic community as well as celebrating the successes of the students, faculty, and staff of BCTC and within the community.
