"Three Generations of Women in My Family"
WS 201 Students' Creative Writing Projects

This essay was designed to give WS201 students a chance to discover a composite picture of their own identity in which they clarified their ties to past generations of women. The women the students chose to research through informal interviews were grandmothers, mothers, aunts, cousins, etc. They also provided a snapshot or picture to submit with their essays. The focus of the papers was on one of the following three topics: work, family, or creative expression. Since the three are interrelated, the students used the two topics not chosen for the primary focus as background or introductory information. Each essay concluded with an analysis of the students themselves as descendents of these women. For a full description of the directions for this assignment, see the writing assignment.
