WS 200: Introduction to Women's Studies in
the Social Sciences
An introduction to women's studies from a social science perspective, using
a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approach. Introduces students to social
science explanations for sex-typed behavior, to social perceptions of women
and men and to the roles of women in social and cultural life.
WS201: Introduction to Women's Studies in the Arts and Humanities
An introduction to women's history in work, family and creative production.
This course presents a set of organizing ideas for examining issues and problems
of women in contemporary society and gives students opportunities for writing,
interviewing and discussing issues of gender, class and race from an interdisciplinary
point of view. It introduces students to the basic methods of humanistic inquiry
in general and humanistic women's studies in particular.
