Eudora E-mail at LCC

Eudora e-mail (Eudora Pro 3.0.5 Windows version) is available for Lexington Community College students, faculty and staff in open computer labs.
 
 
Note:  LCC students, faculty, and staff can get a copy of Eudora from Miles Howe in MB 111.  You will need four formatted diskettes for a copy of Eudora 3.0.  After you have installed version 3.0, then you can update to Eudora Pro 3.0.5 via the Eudora web site at:

First-Time Logon From the Computer Lab

  1. Insert a formatted diskette
  2. Double click on the icon for Create Eudora Floppy. [This is very fast]

  3. After your diskette is initialized, click on Eudora
  4. In Eudora, go to Tools, then Options. Enter your POP account and your Real Name. Then click on O.K.

To Change Your Password

  1. Click on Special
  2. Select Change Password
    1. Enter current password
    2. [Note: your first-time password is u followed by the last 7 digits of your social security number],
      e.g.: u4991234]

  3. Enter new password
  4. Rules for Passwords 
    1. Must have 6 to 8 characters 
    2. Must have at least two alphabetic characters and at least one number 
    3. Must be different from the logon 
    4. A new password must differ from the old one by at least three characters 
    [Note: passwords are case sensitive.] 
    Enter new password again to verify
[Note: It may take about 15 minutes for the server to change your password.]

 

To Check Your Mail

  1. Click on Mailbox
  2. Click on In
  3. Click on the Envelope icon
  4. Enter your password
  5. At the In Mailbox Window, double click on the message you want to read
  6. To close the message and leave it in the In Mailbox, click on File and then click on Close
  7. To delete the message, click on the Trash icon
 

To Send Mail

  1. Click on Message
  2. Click on New Message
  3. Enter the To address
  4. Tab to Subject and enter the subject
  5. Tab to the text area; type your message
  6. Click on Send
 

Mailboxes

You have three mailboxes already set up: In, Out, Trash

To create a new mailbox to save messages:

  1. Click on Mailbox
  2. Select New
  3. Enter the name of the new mailbox. The new mailbox name will be in the Mailbox menu list

To Transfer Mail

  1. With an opened message, click on Transfer and select the mailbox to receive the transferred message

 

To Empty the Trash

When you put a message in the Trash it stays in the Trash Mailbox until you empty the trash.
  1. Click on Special
  2. Click on Empty Trash
