The BCTC-EKU Partnership
In 2002, Lexington Community College (BCTC) and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) signed two articulation agreements that will allow BCTC students who earn their Associates of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology to transfer to EKU and complete their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Electronic Networking or Industrial Technology.
Two Great Career Options in
Technology:
Computer Electronic Networking (CEN):
Industry is moving in the direction of total automation. Manufacturing is becoming less labor intense and machines are being designed to build high quality parts with minim human effort. These robotic and automated machines are controlled by sophisticated computer systems that must be selected, purchased, programmed, interfaced and maintained.
The Computer Electronic Networking Program will prepare you to fill these roles. You will learn how automation works, how to program the computers that operate the machines, and how to network the computers on the machines to those in offices. You will learn how to provide instant and constant access to production information.
CEN graduates are hired to network automation to office networks, to implement computer control of machines, to design production networks and to install and manage networks.
Industrial Technology
Interfacing office computers and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems in automation is one part of modern manufacturing. The second part is fact-based management of technical and human resources. The Industrial Technology Program will prepare you to meet this challenge.
Technology can solve many production problems in the areas of quality, speed, and labor issues, but it creates a greater need for a high skilled labor force to maintain machines and keep them running efficiently. In addition, technology creates the need for highly trained employees to monitor how machines run, to track production quality, and to provide useful feedback to the skilled technicians.
The Industrial Technology Program will prepare you to manage the people and machines in an industrial environment. You will learn how to implement and manage new technology and manufacturing in industry from conception to installation.
